I'm just curious. I know about Bounce and Twist, but those places seem to cater more to men. I'm looking for a more laid back, lesbian themed place. Any suggestions? It looks like The Nickel would have been what you were looking for, but may be closed. Well, just a couple of hours away are a couple of dive lesbian bars Slammers and Blazer's and a dance club Wall Street in the Downtown and Short North area.

Clintonville is known as the lesbian hood, but there are only a handful of bars literally , none of which cater specifically to lesbians, but with the unusually high lesbian population here, I'm sure some frequent the local joints which tend to be no-frills bars and pubs.

Also, as is the case with gay men you can be sure to see lesbians at any given bar in the Short North whether it caters to gay men or not. The Nickel is definitely closed! Tried to go there a few weeks ago and it was totally shut down. The only other place that I found was called Paradise Inn. It didn't look too good, so I didn't go in. But I might just have to try it.

Hush on Lorain and West th I belive has a lesbian night - maybe Wednesday - I cannot remember off the top of my head. It's basically a monthly "takeover" event. The Nickel closed? There used to be a place in Brookpark called the kitty cat club or something?

I used to go there for lesbian karaoke, not sure if it's still there. I think it was next to a straight biker bar? Stay away from The Hawk on Detroit Avenue near West th unless leather and an ass-kicking is your thing. Lady Z's i. Zeleznik's had a year to a year-and-a-half run, but couldn't survive and closed down.

It reopened as Club Generations, an African-American hangout. One of my best friends went in there for a co-worker's birthday, and the barmaids would not serve her because she was white and they explicitly stated that to her in a very gruff, very racially charged manner.

I don't advise anyone to go there and support them. Apparently, lesbian bars and vegan restaurants are Cleveland's Achilles' heel. Now which UOer is going to open a lesbian bar with a vegan kitchen?

It's win-win. Oh, and realizing that the white b! Yeah, Cleveland's gay scene is just a hoot. It had three different clientele at three distinctive times.

If you have the time and the means to take the minute drive to Akron, definitely check out Square and Thursdays East Exchange Street, Akron.

Oof, Cleveland sports. A story of heartbreak, barely mended hearts, followed by more heartbreak. Nearby Oberlin College is a queer oasis and is definitely worth a visit if you have an hour to spare to drive through some cornfields. The take-home is that you should volunteer to make Pride awesomer if you have some time on your hands.

Here is the thing: Cleveland is so so affordable. You will take your lady friend out to a fancy schmancy dinner at your favorite organic, locavore restaurant and almost feel bad for paying so little. Cleveland is a progressive town stuck in a swing-state. Work with what you got, right? Edgewater Park West 76th St. Mentor Headlands State Park — This is a minute car ride from the city, but the expansive beaches make it totally worth it.

The best. Progressive field for baseball is nice and affordable. I went to a bunch of games for super cheap when I was at school up there. MELT is awesome. Oberlin is a beautiful artsy college town. But Kent State and Baldwin Wallace have some gayness to them as well. I went to Cleveland for the first time last year which is pathetic for a born and raised buckeye , and I loved it.

Cleveland dyke represent! My girlfriend is from here,so we relocated from SF to raise our kid. It is super progressive-But these laws in Ohio need to change! Other than that,I love that I can make art here and experience the amazing rust belt atmosphere of the city.
